Newell pleaded guilty to Manslaughter

A guilty plea of Manslaughter, a Class Y felony, was entered by Jeffery Newell at the Scott County Courthouse on Monday, July 10. Newell was initially charged with Murder in the First Degree in the death of Hugh "Hoot" Strozier in September 2016.
Newell was sentenced to 120 months; 40 months being imposed at the Arkansas Department of Corrections and the additional 80 months as a Suspended Imposition of Sentence (SIS).
Newell has 296 days of jail time credit, and has been ordered to not make contact with Strozierís family members.
