From the Scott County Judge
By
This week the road department will continue to work on the damage we had in the Blackfork area where we had some major damage from rains. We continue to work on other roads as quickly as we can. We are also doing FEMA work on Hulbert Road in the parks area and will be moving to Brush Creek road next. The state aid road contracts have been approved and work should begin this week on the Abbott and White Oak Roads. White oak will be a paving and chip and seal of one mile, the abbot road will be replacing pipes and a reseal of that road both jobs should be completed by the end of Sepember. We opened bids on the Nella Road Bridge on the 15th and Iowa Bridge and Culvert won the bid and work should start within 30 days. We will bid out Little Texas Road next and it should go out within 30 days even though we have not received monies for either Little Texas or Rogers Lane. I did get the Frost Lane project approved for 2015 this will be co-op a job with the county, State, and Title Two monies it should go out in early spring. This year we have had lots of rain which has created a growth spurt in the brush and weeds along our county roads we are working as fast as we can for those of you that help by cutting along the right of ways Thank You any and all help is appreciated. The brush crew that we have working through a WADDA program is working on Brush Creek Road, and village Brook road. On Aug 7th we will have a meeting at the Chant Lane church discussing Flood control structures. This will affect everyone that owns property in the upper and lower Fouche river drainage area. Please let as many people know as you can to attend. We are continuing to do FEMA work as quick as the weather will permit. But at the same time are doing normal maintenance such as ditching, cutting right-of-ways, replacing bridges, and graveling roads. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and allow our catch-up work to continue.
