Understanding Yourself

Your family members and close friends think they know and understand you more than you understand yourself. Itís not so! You are your own teacher.† You know what you want and need, and you know whatís best for yourself. Finding the teacher inside you will not help to resolve your own doubts and fears.† Observing and understanding yourself will lead you to find what is most important, the truth inside you.†

You might understand yourself better than others understand you, but that doesnít mean you know it all. Therefore, sometimes you need help from friends, family, and professionals to guide and educate you, so you can grow and move in the right direction.

In life, no one is responsible for your actions, nor are you responsible for the actions of anyone else.† You must only be mindful of your own actions. In this way you will begin to understand yourself better.

Sometimes things do happen for a reason, maybe they donít. But no matter what, they still happen. Thatís what we need to remember. I learned to stop analyzing things, to just let them happen. And if I get hurt, or if something bad happens, then it happens. Thereís nothing I can do to change that.

The most beautiful people I have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These people have an appreciation, sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen.

Your beliefs about yourself and your world create your expectations. Your expectations determine your attitude. Your attitude determines your behavior and the way you relate to other people. And the way you behave toward and relate to other people determines how they relate to and behave toward you because you cannot control what happens even whenever youíre in conflict with someone, there is one factor that can make the difference between damaging your relationship and deepening it by changing our inner attitudes of our minds, controlling our attitude toward what happens, can change the outer aspects of our lives.

Life is too short! Always be yourself. Never try to hide who you are. Always stand up for what you believe in.
