Jared Tyler Napier Briley is currently at the Scott County Detention Center on a Murder in the First Degree charge in the death of Charlene Jo Marie Gilley on March 21, 2020. A money bond in the amount of $750,000 has been set for Briley.
On March 21, 2020, the Waldron Police Department responded to a call of an unidentified white female laying facedown in a pool of blood at the Southern Nights Motel in Waldron. According to an affidavit signed by Chief of Police Jeremy Hunt, the owner of the motel, Kiran Patel, called the police after opening the door to the room after observing Briley leaving the hotel at a high rate of speed. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim unclothed with an apparent gunshot would to the head.
Soon after their arrival, police officers obtained a search warrant for the room and investigators fem the Arkansas State Police were called to assist in the homicide. ASP Investigator Corey Mendenhall arrived and the search warrant was executed, during the course of the search no identification was found identifying the female, but a wallet con tainting the drivers license of Jared “Tyler” Napier-Briley was located on the night stand. A .357 revolver was also found under the bedding at the foot of the bed, which was loaded with one spent casing, a spent casing was also found under the bed.
During the execution of a search warrant at a Waldron residence listed on Briley’s drivers license, items belonging to Gilley were located including her Oklahoma drivers license and birth certificate. It was stated in the affidavit that Gilley was the girlfriend of Briley.
Briley was captured by law enforcement officers during the evening of Sunday, March 22, 2020. According to her obituary, a memorial will be held at a later date for Gilley and her unborn son, Charlie Jo Gilley.
The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts.
