Amended charges filed  in Bynum case

The jury trial of James N. Bynum began in the Scott County Courthouse on Tuesday, Oct. 29. Prosecuting attorney Tom Tatum II brought forth to the Scott County Clerk’s office  an amendment to charges against Bynum on Friday, Oct. 25. The Amended Information stated: Comes the Prosecuting attorney for the First Division of Scott County, Arkansas, and in the name and by authority of the State of Arkansas, charges James N. Bynum, with the crime(s) of Sexual Assault, Second Degree (8/16/2013 and thereafter) as follows: Count 1: Sexual Assault, Second Degree (8/16/2013 and thereafter). The said defendant in the First Division of Scott County, did unlawfully and feloniously on or about March 1, 2013 and July 31, 2014. Count 2: Sexual Assault, Second Degree (8/16/2013 and thereafter). The said defendant in the First Division of Scott County, did unlawfully and feloniously on or about January 1, 2003 and February 11, 2014.

Bynum’s trial is scheduled through Thursday, Oct. 31.

*The written criminal information is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
