Former Waldron Middle School Assistant Principal Jessica Williams awaits formal arraignment as she faces up to five counts of Sexual Assault 1st Degree and one count of Tampering with Evidence on allegations of having an ongoing sexual relationship with a 16-year-old male student.
In a release by the police department, the school resource officer and other investigators interviewed the victim at the department on the same day the letter was received.
The male student confirmed he had been in a sexual relationship with Williams since earlier this summer.
The teen also said that he and Williams had exchanged “inappropriate” photographs on multiple occasions, and provided investigators with evidence to support his claims.
During the same afternoon, officers interviewed the suspect at the Waldron Public School Central Office, during the course of that interview she admitted to having sexual contact with the juvenile on several occasions. The suspect was then taken into custody afterwards and transported to the Scott County Detention Center.
“We have a former employee who resigned last night (August 13) at the board meeting,” Waldron Schools Superintendent Daniel Fielding said, “It is under police investigation.”
Williams’ bond was set at $100,000. She was released from the detention center on August 14 after posting bail.
According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, they will serve Williams for a court appearance once the Prosecuting Attorney’s office has provided the department with the proper paperwork.
