Barbara Ann (Kovalck) Taylor went home, Monday, April 26, 2021 in Van Buren, Arkansas, surrounded by her husband and sons. Barbara was born June 4, 1943 to John Kovalck and Rose (Evans) Kovalck in Shinnston, West Virginia. Barbara was 77 years, 10 months and 22 days old. Barbara was retired from Mansfield Public Schools where she was the Food Services Manager. She also worked many years as the summer camp cook at Camp Cahinio Girl Scout Camp near Ione, Arkansas. This is where she acquired the nickname Biscuit which later became Granny Biscuit when her first grandson Jonathon was born.
Barbara married Herbert Taylor July 16, 1966 and they were married for over 53 years. They had 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Barbara loved cooking and sewing, she made many dresses for her granddaughter Katie when she was young. She also loved cheering on her beloved West Virginia Mountaineers. She was a true coal miner’s daughter and was very proud of her heritage. Many people will remember the many gingerbread houses she made for her kid’s classrooms when they were in school.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Herbert, 2 sons, John Taylor and wife Judy of Van Buren, Arkansas, Paul Taylor and wife Susan of Fort Smith, Arkansas and 1 daughter Karen Taylor of Lucas, Arkansas. 7 grandchildren, Joseph Sparks of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Katie Godwin and husband Blake of Van Buren, Arkansas, Molly O’Bar and husband Ethan of Mansfield, Arkansas, Andre Lewis of Denver, Colorado, Trent Taylor of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Kyra Lewis of Fort Smith, Arkansas. 6 great grandchildren, Hailee Sparks of Booneville, Arkansas, Miles, Ryker and Cohen Godwin of Van Buren, Arkansas, Lynnlee and John O’Bar of Mansfield, Arkansas and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, John and Rose (Evans) Kovalck, 4 brothers, Fred Kovalck, Ernest Kovalck, Paul Kovalck and Pete Kovalck, 1 sister, Rose Wagner and 1 grandson, Jonathon Taylor.
Barbara’s visitation will be Friday April 30, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 P.M. at the Martin Funeral Home in Mansfield, Arkansas where the family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Barbara’s services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday May 1, 2021 at Freedom Free Will Baptist in Elm Park, Arkansas with Bob Hattabaugh officiating. Interment will follow in the Freedom Cemetery. Arrangements are being entrusted to Martin Funeral Home in Mansfield, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be Trent Taylor, Joseph Sparks, Blake Godwin, Mark Kovalck, Bobby Blacklock and Tim Wagner.
