Sherry Lee (Frazier) Goodner, 75, was born March 31, 1946 in the Center Point Community, about 3 miles west of Hon, Arkansas. Sherry passed away on May 29, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer disease. Sherry was born in her grandmothers home on highway 28 and delivered by her grandmother, Mary Phipps Stewart.
Sherry contracted Rheumatic Fever and missed the entire 6th grade. Back then there was no medicine and it was frequently fatal but she survived. When she returned to school her principal, Mr. Rackley, and her teacher Mrs. Wilson, had an argument over who was to grade her test to see if she could be promoted to the 7th grade. The principal pulled rank, wadded up the test, threw it in the trash and said she passed. That was what her teacher was going to do. They were correct because Sherry went on to be valedictorian of her class of 1964.
Sherry attended the University of Arkansas where she met her future husband her first week there. They married in 1966 and returned to Waldron in 1968 and formed Scott County Title Corporation where she worked. Later she was one of the founders of Arkansas Title Insurance Company, a statewide title insurance underwriter and was also on their board of directors for several years.
Sherry is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, Donald Goodner, a son Douglas Goodner and wife Rebekah, daughter Bethany Ingle and husband Toby, son Nicholas Goodner and wife Lindsey, nine grandchildren; Ryan Goodner, Haley Ingle, Ross Goodner, Morgan Ingle, Riley Ingle, Lily Goodner, Harrison Goodner, Joel Cagle and Benjamin Cagle. She is also survived by great-grandchildren; Kaiden Malone, Wyatt Goodner and Emryn Goodner. Kamryn Goodner is due in July. She is also survived by one sister Joann Jericho and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Frazier and Linda Frizzell.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Allen Frazier and Melba (Stewart) Frazier, two brothers, Paul Frazier, Johnny Frizzell and one sister Mary Sue Harrison.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday June 3, 2021 at Waldron United Methodist Church. Burial will follow the services at Lower Center Point Cemetery under the direction of Martin Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
